Everyone wants to be happy and have a great relationship with oneself and others who are close to their hearts. By the age of 40 and into our 60s, we often expect ourselves to be fairly set for life having worked long hours in our early adulthood preparing for the future, perhaps starting or raising a healthy family, having a solid bond with an intimate partner, and navigating several ups and downs of life. Yet, these expectations do not always match the actual realities of experiencing middle-age life. This period can be a mixture of all types of identity changes and transitions that often cause chronic stress and relational conflicts.
The MidLife at Ease Counseling office is physically located in Leawood, Kansas providing in- person counseling and wellness consulting services, as well as Tele-mental Health (online/phone) sessions if appropriate in Kansas and Missouri. Dr. Sydney Spears is the owner and clinical social worker whose speciality is working with middle-age adults (40s-60s) experiencing struggles with self, intimate partner and/or family stress, conflict, and loss.
MidLife at Ease Counseling also specializes in helping clients understand how stress can often be expressed in the body and nervous system as well as through certain mindset and emotions. Stress can show up as chronic pain, headaches, muscular tension/tightness, unhealthy postures, shallow breathing, anxiety, depression, and other health issues. BodyMind awareness and skills can be extremely valuable in managing and coping with distress.
